CGRundertow WHEEL OF FORTUNE for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review
Wheel of Fortune review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Wheel of Fortune from THQ for the Nintendo Wii. The game is pretty much identical to the show. You and three contestants compete to solve a word puzzle. You keep chipping away at the words until you’re ready to take a guess, vowels cost money, Vanna White refuses to stop being sexy—do you really need an explanation? It’s Wheel of Fortune. The game uses bizarre looking characters by default, like the mutated spawn of an Xbox avatar and Dryopithecus. Fortunately, you can use your personal Mii, which makes the presentation a bit better. Otherwise, the game looks extremely simple…and not in a good way. There are 800 puzzles, and in addition to Mii support, the game also supports the Wii Speak peripheral for voice control. Nintendo posts 37.3 billion yen annual operating loss
Nintendo is defiant that it will return to profit this year after reporting a mammoth and first ever annual operating loss of 37.3 billion yen — that’s 9 million. Sales of the Japanese firms Wii gaming consoles are shrinking to say the least, and their 3DS handheld device – which was launched in February last year – hasn’t exactly been setting the world alight either. It’s sure to be something of a blow to the firm which started by making playing cards in the back streets of Kyoto over 120 years ago. But Nintendo’s boss, Satoru Iwata, blames the poor sales on a strong yen and the economic cloud in Europe. So it’s pinning its hopes on the Wii’s successor — the Wii U — which we’ll see just in time for Christmas. It’ll be interesting to see if that can turn its fortunes around.
