Working Out And Reducing Cholesterol

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

Cholesterol is something that many individuals are frightened of, but most individuals do not understand. Individuals are scared of having ‘cholesterol’, but they do not understand that there are two sorts of cholesterol and that they have to have some of both sorts.

The difficulty comes if you have more cholesterol than you require. This is because cholesterol is a waxy, fatty substance that can stick to the walls of arteries, build up and result in obstruction.

This means that the heart has to pump more to get enough oxygen and nutrients to where they are needed. This in turn means that an increase in blood pressure, which frequently leads to heart disease, which in turn leads to heart attacks and strokes.

Luckily, there are three methods out of this problem: diet, exercise and medication. The medication would have to be taken daily and for life, so most individuals would rather strive to reduce their levels of cholesterol without taking drugs. However, this does require lifestyle alterations.

A lot of individuals have tried dieting to lose weight and failed. Dieting to reduce cholesterol is not quite the same, but there are similarities and a weight loss diet could be linked with a low cholesterol diet fairly easily.

However, there is another method and that is exercise. You can either exercise a lot and eat more or less what you like or exercise a bit and be wary with what you eat as well. If you choose to exercise a great deal, the manner that it will work for you is by raising your rate of metabolism and strengthening your heart.

Before embarking on an exercise routine, you should talk to your physician, particularly if you have not carried out much exercise for a long time. Your physician will almost certainly advise you to do mild types of exercise such as rambling for an hour a day (two times thirty minutes) until you are within a stone or so of your target weight. Swimming in a swimming pool is another good alternative.

Exercise can have a pretty rapid impact on your cholesterol levels. In fact, it will have a faster impact than dieting, but the best manner to go is to eat less HDL (saturated fats, trans fats and hydrogenated fats) and exercise as well.

Whilst you are exercising a great deal more, remember to hydrate your body by drinking plenty of water. Water, not soda or caffeinated drinks or beer. Merely water and at least two litres a day, which is approximately eight tumblers full.

You can also imbibe water by eating watery fruits like watermelons and other fruits, which would kill two birds with one stone as eating fruit is regarded as a way of warding off cancer.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on numerous subjects, but is now concerned with food that lowers cholesterol. If you want to know more, please visit our web site at What Foods Lower Cholesterol?

Have A Group Family Share Session Today

by Nicole Lanning on April 23, 2011

You can work with many different types of alternative methods in your life as an individual person, but did you know that you can also work with these things as a family unit? It is similar to working with an energy share group, or any other type of group session, where people share their experiences and to work together. This is something that you can do as a family to strengthen your family bonds and energetic connections, as well as healing any issues that come about. I can show you how to do some the steps today.

So how do you go about adding these different types of therapies into your day-to-day routine for your own family? With the first thing you have to do is find issue that you want to work on. You need to find that particular thing that is going to benefit the family for everybody using this type of healing process. It may be a general issue that the whole family needs to work on, or is something specific that is tailored to each and everybody certain needs.

When you’re working with a group type of healing for your family issues, you have to find something that is going to resonate for the majority of people. Depending on what the issue is that your family needs to work on, this is going to depend on what you’re going to find for your technique and tool to use. It also depends on age members of the family members as well as how well they wish to use this healing process for the family as a unit.

I really enjoy working with crystal healing for family types of issues, because each person can work with different types of crystals that resonate best with them, as well as it really does not matter how old the person is in the family, as this is something that everyone can learn to do. You want to make sure that the crystals are thoroughly cleansed and programmed before you start a healing session, no matter what the healing session is about for the family.

When you’re working with this type of healing, make sure to respect yourself, the other family members, and the energy that you’re working with for this particular session.

Caring For Your Skin After The Removal Of Warts

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

We are all highly aware of how our skin looks. Young individuals are particularly so. The pressure is really on for individuals to look like Hollywood stars and we are bombarded with adverts on our blemishes every day.

One of the most common skin problems is warts and luckily for sufferers, it is one of the simplest to cure. Warts can be removed by a few minutes of non-painful surgery.

The removal of warts by surgery or by other ways like freezing may produce a small wound. If you treat this wound carefully, there is no need for it ever to be visible.

If your physician or dermatologist does not give you directions on caring for your skin after the removal of warts, you ought to ask and follow the directions to the letter.

These directions are not likely| to be onerous to follow. They will almost certainly just be about applying an antiseptic cream to prevent infection and a bandage or plaster to keep the wound uncontaminated.

However the sort of wound you have depends on the method of removal that you chose. Surgery and freezing are the worst for creating wounds, but even they are fairly superficial.

If you do not have many warts, you may decide to remove them yourself by applying a wart solvent. Wart solvent ought to be applied two or three times a day and it will rot the wart away during a period of weeks.

Wart solvent normally contains salicylic acid which does not burn, although you have to be careful to put a drop only on the top of the wart. The wart will seem to grow larger as it disintegrates, but this is standard. After a few weeks it will fall off not leaving any scar or wound at all.

My aunty cured me of my warts by rubbing them with a piece of raw steak and burying the steak in the garden. She spoke a couple of words which I did not hear and she told me that once the steak had rotted away, my wart would disappear. She also warned me not to dig the steak up to check.

I was eight years old and the wart was very embarrassingly growing on the end of my nose. Around three weeks later, my wart fell off while I was washing in the shower. There was no wound and it never came back. Not many of you will believe that that happened, but it did.

It seems to me that the best method to avoid having to worry about caring for your skin after the removal of warts is to not use surgery at all if you can avoid it. It is easy to remove warts with over the counter cures like wart solvent (or steak) if you can.

Surgery and freezing are usually reserved for very serious infections of warts, but warts are contagious, so it is best to deal with every wart as it shows so that you do not risk spreading the infection to other parts of your body or even to your friends and family.

Caring for your skin after the removal of warts is not an arduous task, but it can be avoided by keeping on top of your warts. As the old saying goes: ‘A Stitch In Time Saves Nine’ and so it is with caring for your skin after the removal of warts too.

Are you worried about skin care after wart removal? If you are, please go to our web site at Cures for Warts

Speed Reading

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

No one really knows when speed reading was first used, but it might have been a long while in the past. For hundreds of years, reading was the privilege of a minority of the most highly-educated people in the world, the overwhelming majority of whom were monks and priests. This small, select group of men protected their privilege and were loathe to coach the general populace to read. Furthermore, during those hundreds of years there were relatively few books to read compared with today. Books were also very costly as they all had to be copied out by hand. Possibly the only fact that has not altered is that the Bible was the most common book in existence and even now the Bible is the most prevalent book.

The world is fast devolving into a place where individuals are slowly but surely turning their backs on books and becoming fixed in front of monitors or television screens. In such a world, parents should not fail to notice the importance of developing a passion for reading in themselves and their children. Reading is a habit that should be established when the child is relatively young, so what can you do to foster this habit?

Well, there are several strategies you can employ, although one of the best to lead by example. Read with your child every day, even if its only for 10-15 minutes. Allow your child to see you reading. By this I mean, don’t only read in bed before you go to sleep, but instead of watching television from time to time and read your children a bed-time story. Encourage them to read too. You could also:

Register your child for reading classes, if you really don’t have much time or your child is a little slow at reading. There are many well-structured after school reading classes that aim to make books more attractive to children. They help children with articulation, sayings and metaphors. These classes can be fun with animated characters and pictures, especially for young children,. They often make use of picture books, nursery rhymes, comical songs and short stories to fire up the imagination of younger children.

You will have to learn how to arouse your child’s interest. If your child has a favorite character, pick a series of books that include this character. Endeavor to encourage your children to read proper books not comics. The style in comics frequently leaves a great deal to be desired with its sloppy English and street slang. As an alternative, go for series of books like Harry Potter or Tarzan.

You should build yourself a library of your own books. This may sound a little impressive, but after all, a library is only a collection of books. Begin with a good-looking bookshelf that you can easily build on. A talent like reading cannot be learned in only one place, so you cannot afford to leave all the hard work to the day-school or even the after school curricula. You have to collect books that you imagine your child will enjoy too. Use the Internet as a source for learning about the contemporary reading games that will attract little children to the superior and ancient art of reading,

When you child is interested in reading for its own sake, you might read up on speed reading. Speed reading is best suited for informative learning and background reading. It’s immensely suited to cramming or studying for examinations. It is ideal for school and university. However, the first job, before you can think about speed reading, is to get your child reading in the first place.

Are you interested in speed reading for yourself or a loved one? If so, please visit our web site focusing on Speed Reading.

7 Tips for Teaching Children Science

by Sarah Jenkins on April 23, 2011

Getting kids interested in science at an early age is very important. It’s easier than you think. Science does not have to be something mysterious. It is happening all around us, and you can use everyday things to encourage your children’s interest and knowledge.

Most parents believe that they can’t help their children with science. But you don’t need a advanced scientific degree to teach young children science. All you need is a willingness to try, to observe the world, and to take the time to encourage their natural curiosity.

You can help by having a positive attitude toward science yourself. Then start simply by asking your child questions about the things you see every day. Why do you think that happened? How do you think that works? And then listen to their answer without judging it or judging them. Listening without judging will improve their confidence, and help you determine just what your child does or does not know.

You can turn every day activities into science projects. For example, don’t just comment on how bright the moon is one night. Ask questions about why it’s brighter tonight, why does it change shape, etc. You can observe the moon’s phases throughout a month, and turn that activity into a science project, without even mentioning the words “science project”. For a child that likes cooking, observe how milk curdles when you add vinegar, or how sugar melts into syrup. Try baking a cake and asking why does the cake rise? What happens if you forget to put in some ingredient? Voila! Instant science project idea, without being intimidating to you or your child.

Different kids have different interests so they need different kinds of science projects. A rock collection may interest your young daughter but your older son may need something more involved. Fortunately, it’s not hard to find plenty of fun projects. Knowing your child is the best way to find enjoyable learning activities. Here are some more tips:

- Choose activities that are the right level of difficulty – not too easy nor too hard. If you are not sure, pick something easier since you don’t want to discourage a child by making science frustrating. You can always do the harder project later on.

- Read the suggested ages on any projects, books or toys labels, but then make sure that the activity is appropriate for your child, regardless of age. Your child’s interest and abilities are unique. If a child interested in a topic, they may be able to do activities normally done by older kids, while a child who is not interested may need something easier aimed at a younger ages.

- Consider how well the type of project matches your child’s personality and learning style. Is the project meant to be done alone or in a group? Will it require adult help or supervision?

- Choose activities matched to your environment. A city full of bright lights at night may not be the best place to study the stars. But during your vacation to a remote area, you may be able to spark an interest in astronomy.

- Let your child help choose the project or activity. It’s easy enough to ask. Rather than overwhelm them, suggest 2 or 3 possibilities. When a child picks something they are interested in, they will enjoy it and learn more from it.

Go ahead. Try it and see for yourself how easy it is the spark the interest of a child.

You’ll find that it’s a lot easier with exciting subjects, such as how to make rockets – kids love experiments that make lots of noise and smoke!

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

Following a diet is never easy, especially when you are just starting, and to tell the truth just because you’re going to do the Atkins Diet, it doesn’t mean that it will get any easier either. Sure, you can eat almost unlimited quantity of high fat and high protein foods, but you’re still following a diet and you still need to control your food consumption.

For one thing, you will need to limit your carbohydrate intake especially in the first stage of your diet, and although you get to increase that bit by bit later on you might still be missing your carbs and can still be prone to these cravings. And that’s where some of the Atkins products can come to your aid.

Having tried a few of the Atkins products myself, I have to mention that I consider them to be value for money. They are not cheap, but then again, nor are they so expensive that you’ll only be able to afford one item and go hungry for the rest of the time, although that might, in its own way help that you would lose your excess weight!

However, you’ll be glad to know that there’s a range of Atkins products for you to select from which can help satisfy even your worst food cravings and as an added benefit, as I said earlier, they taste great as well. But if that isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that they can also satisfy your sugar cravings as well as being good for you and filling you up!

So, which Atkins products can you get? Well, it is impossible to describe them all here because they extend over a large range of foodstuffs, so it really depends on what stage of the diet you’re at and what you foodstuff you miss. If it’s breakfast bars, then you’ve got the ‘Morning Start Breakfast Bars’ which is high in protein and fibre and which also has the necessary amount of calcium you need too. Then you’ll come across my own personal favourite, the ‘Peanut Butter Granola Bar’, filled with crunchy wholesomeness and peanut butter.

Then again if you really miss something from your diet, you can always try one of the Atkins products which feature different flavours, say the milk shakes. For example, if you miss peaches, you could try an Atkins Peach Milk Shake. Seriously, where would you be without your milk shakes? Probably the same place you’d be without your Chocolate Peanut Butter bars.

Have you read enough to whet your appetite? Do you reckon that you can stick to your diet with some of these Atkins products lining your cupboards with only a modicum of groaning?

So, what are you waiting for? Go and grab your Atkins products now. There’s only so much will power a person has and the better prepared you are the easier it will be to adhere to your diet and the quicker you can lose that unwanted weight.

Fishing Equipment

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

Fishing equipment is called fishing tackle by specialists and hobbyists and it usually refers to rods, lines, hooks, sinkers, spears, lures, bait, reels, nets, and et cetera. The fishing gear that is attached at the end of a line is called terminal tackle

The word tackle referring to fishing equipment comes from ‘takel’ which initially meant the rigging of a ship, that is, the gear consisting of ropes supporting a ship’s masts and sails. Later, the same word was recorded to have a another meaning, that of apparatus for fishing and that meaning has been preserved ever since.

The most rudimentary fishing apparatus is made up of of a rod, a line, a hook, a lure, a bait and a weight or sinker. The line is a simple string specially made for fishing that is both long, strong and yet thin, so that fish do not notice it. There are various questions that an angler asks when buying a fishing line, like its resistance, stretch, strength and so on. The line will be chosen depending on what species of fish the angler intends to catch.

The sinker or weight, also referred to as a plummet, is really only a weight that helps in casting the hook and the bait as far as possible from the shoreline or from the boat that the fisherman is using. They are usually made of lead because it is cheap and easy to melt at home. However, lead sinkers have been banned in some parts of the world, especially the very small ones, which are often called ‘shot’. If ingested by birds or other fish, the lead, which is well-known to be poisonous, will cause the death of that animal.

Another elementary piece of fishing gear is the hook. This device meant for holding the bait on the line and for hooking into the fish’s mouth. It is tied to the line and the angler can choose from a pretty variety of shapes and sizes.

And last but far from least, is the bait or lure, without which the fishing equipment cannot be effective. A lure is a device attached at the end of the line that looks and moves something like the prey of the fish you are after. Its purpose is to catch the attention of the fish with its colour and vibrations. Artificial flies, tiddlers and sand eels come into into this category. When the fish bites the lure, it gets hooked.

Bait, on the other hand, is the item actually attached to the hook. Bait is often of two types: animal or foodstuff. ‘Animal’ refers to small fish or other water creatures, insects or crawlers. ‘Foodstuff’ refers to grains, like corn, bread or whatever the angler believes might work.

What Are Coital Headaches?

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

Although orgasm is usually an enjoyable and happy experience for most people, it can become painful for those who find that it triggers coital headaches. For these people, sexual activity can actually cause these coital headache attacks.

Technically, a headache, or cephalalgia, is a symptom of various conditions of the head and sometimes the neck too. They can be classified into two main groups: primary or idiopathic, and symptomatic, although there are other ways of classifying them too; for example by severity.

Put simply, primary headaches have a known or unknown cause, whereas symptomatic headaches are often caused by injury. Primary headaches include: migraine, tension headaches, cluster headaches and coital headaches, amongst others.

Coital headaches, also called coital cephalalgia or sexual headaches, is a rare, but severe type of headache that starts in the nape of the neck during sexual intercourse, but before climax. It can occur in all conditions where climax is the expected result. The pain can move to behind the eyes and can then become even more severe. Typically the pain will last from a few minutes to an hour or so, but it has been known to last for days in the worst cases.

It is surprising to many to discover that men are three times more likely to experience coital headaches than women and the people most at risk are those between 20 and 25 and 30 and 44. Doctors do not really understands why this should be. Coital headaches afflict about one percent of the population, although this figure could be much higher due to people being embarrassed to discuss it.

Coital headaches are benign, meaning that they cause no long-term ill effects, as far as we know. It seems that people taking sexual stimulants, like Viagara, are about 10% more at risk to a bout of coital headache. In fact, besides the obvious, temporary pain, the worst effects of coital headaches are varying degrees of dizziness, confusion and stiffness of neck.

However, it is still worth visiting a doctor though, especially in the beginning, just to exclude the more severe causes of headaches, such as brain tumours and blood clots. However, the doctor can do rather little to help by way of cure. He may suggest a complete abstention from any kind of sexual practice for a period ranging from days to weeks or he may recommend trying taking medication some time before sexual foreplay commences.

Some of the headache medications that may be taken are indomethacin, imitrex, zomig and propranolol, although if the headaches continue, your doctor could prescribe daily preventive medication. People suffering from frequent coital headaches may experience a positive response to migraine preventive medications, such as beta blockers or verapamil. Non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen may similarly be helpful. Coital headaches and migraines are also more likely to occur if the person is in poor physical health.

However, the cure for coital headaches for many sufferers can be as simple as bringing your weight up or down to the normal weight for your size. Coital headaches can also be cured in some sufferers by an increased level of exercise, although this could bring on exertion headaches in a few cases.

Now the good news is that most headaches related to sexual activities are not at all serious in nature. In deed, research actually states that orgasm can relieve headaches and even migraine in some instances. This means that for some adults, refusing sex may actually be the cause of their headache in the first place.

If you have a problem with migraine or headaches, you really ought to go along to our website on Stopping Headaches.

Cooking: Five Top Tips

by Owen Jones on April 23, 2011

There can not be many individuals who do not enjoy their food, but the human race, being what it is, I expect that there are a a small number of them. However, for the remainder of us, food is a font of every day delight and, like drink, it is often employed to denote a happy event. not only that, but various foodstuffs are served for the various meals or distinct celebrations. Festive meals were undoubtedly considered around the seasonal foods available, but a number of foodstuffs were transported great distances for the consumption of those who could pay for them.

For instance, my Dad deemed it a grand luxury to be given an orange in his stocking on Christmas Day sixty years ago. How the times have changed! Very few kids would deem an orange a present, special or otherwise, any day of the year these days.

Nevertheless, the storage of foodstuff is still a daily affair and therefore, I have written a couple of top guidelines on preserving food below, so that you will obtain the best from that which you have bought or grown in your garden even a long period afterward.

Chicken Stuffed With Spoons: a great way of preparing chicken to be eaten at a cold buffet or in sandwiches, is to put as many spoons as possible into the cavity of the chicken (not silver or plated ones though). Then, place the chicken in a large saucepan or pot and bring the water to the boil slowly. Simmer for 10 minutes, cover and leave until the water is room temperature. The spoons will retain the heat and cook the chicken from the inside out. it will be one of the most succulent chickens you have ever eaten.

Roasted Crisp And Light: if you like crisp-skinned roasties, it is best to parboil them first, but that is only half the story. so, boil the potatoes for five minutes and drain thoroughly. Put the lid on the pan and shake it about violently. Bang it hard on the chopping block several times. The harder the better. Then put the parboiled potatoes in the baking tray with the meat or fowl to cook as you would normally.

Salad Soup: Do not throw away salad that has been soaked in salad dressing. Whisk it up in a food processor with a can of tomatoes of tinned soup. Add lots of garlic to taste and adjust the thickness to suit your taste. Chill it down and you will have one of the most delicious summer soups ever.

Curdling Cure: if your mayonnaise has curdled there is one sure fire way to bring it back to life. stir in a couple of tablespoons of Hellmann’s mayonnaise and your problem will be over.

Simply Scrumptious Topping: a really, quick, delicious and almost infinitely variable topping for a savory pie can be made in seconds. Choose the flavour you want from the crisp rack; puncture the bag to let our the air and then crush the contents in the gag. it really adds something to a pie. The same trick can be used on the bottom of a potato pie a Texan housewife told me.
