NASSCOM the apex body dealing with Gaming and Animaion Industries in India, has realeased its latest report. Though the economic slow down has affected growth in both sectors in India, they are still projected to grow at a whooping 49 and 22 percent this year.
Though in India the proportional size of Animation Vs. Gaming industry is slithgly skewed as compared to countries in Europe and America, the growth trends should correct this.
A trouble point for both industries though remains that most of the revenue for both industries actually comes from abroad, and the current slow down has therefore hit the industry harder than it would have, had it been a more indegenous market.
The slow down, and current market trends though may help correct this as well, and Indian animation may find a more healthy market at home, it is hoped, soon.
There are only 15,000 people currently working in the industry, but there is demand for the same number in the next three to four years. The problem though is a lack of quality training in industry skills. Something which will need to be addressed.
